Can see computers in my workgroup, but can't access files

Hi all,
I have 5 computers.....3 windowsXP, 1 windows2000, and 1
windows98. I have networked these computers through a hub.
Each computer has different name and an unique IP address.
I log on all these machines as administrator. I can access
internet from all these machines. All these computers can
see each other, as all of them are in the same workgroup.
Now, WinXP machines can access files on Win2000 & Win98
machine, but WinXP machines cannot access each other also
Win2000 & Win98 cannot access WinXp. It gives "access
denied...contact administrator" error.
I tried following things:
1) Enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP
2) Computer browser service started
3) Ping other computers....was successful...so hardware is
fine
4) Changed IP addresses
5) Guest access is on
6) There is no firewall
7) changed DHCP node type from "hybrid" to "broadcast"
But all of these attempts are in vain.
Can anybody provide tip so that all computers can access
each other and is possible to share files & printers.
Thanks in advance,

My experience has shown that mixing windows flavors can be
difficult to network without a domain controller. You will
have to add the 'computername\administrator' user to each
machine that will have access. So, you will basically have
to setup 5 different administrator users on each computer.
I hope this helps.

Just a couple of suggestions:

Do all admin accounts have the same password?
Have you unchecked "use simple file sharing" in Win Explorer folder view
settings? (open win explorer window, choose Tools-Folder Options-View tab,
scroll to bottom of Advanced Settings list and voila! Use simple file
sharing" option.)

Don't know that these will have an impact, but I didn't see them mentioned
in your list.

Hi,

Have you resolved your problem? I have 3 PC's all under
XP pro thru a Wireless Netgear router, The wired pc's can
see and explore the wireless one but not the wired ones,
the wireless one can see the others but have no access to
their disks. I am puzzled. If you find the solution I'll
appriciate a little mail.
Thanks.
