Day 2 I install a program.
Day 3 I restore to Day 1
Can I restore on Day 4 to the state on Day 2 and continue using the
program I bypassed on Day 3?

Restore will put the system settings to what they were on that date. If a
program wasn't installed on the date you restored to, it won't run and will
need to be reinstalled.

Thanks for both replies. I have now done it and it works.

The reason I didn't want to reinstall the program is because is
creates problems I can't live with. That's why I restored to before
its installation. But, it also does something I have to do. This is
complete now, so I've re-restored to day 4 and won't have to use the
program again.

You're welcome Jim.

The problem with removing application with System Restore is that only
monitored files will be removed. Unmonitored file will remain. That's why
it's best to uninstall the application via add/remove programs first.
