Can ping but can't web browse

I'm trying to set up home networking with a desktop and
laptop, both windows xp machines. I ran through the
setup wizards and the desktop has some kind of spooler
error and doesn't appear to finish normally.

Anyway from the inside computer (laptop) I can ping the
gateway through my main computer and other sites and can
even do nslookups and get answers from my desktop. But
when I try to web browse or run a game it does not
connect. I tried with and without using my desktop as a
proxy server but it doesnt work. Any ideas?

It sounds like you are having problems with DNS. When you
open up the TCP/IP properties for the network connections
does it have DNS server fined?
If not you will need to add these in order to be bale to
view webpages.

You can use these DNS server or the ones provided by your
ISP:

194.168.4.100
194.168.8.100

If you enter both of there it will preform better. This
should resolve your problems but if not please mail me at
(e-mail address removed) and i will try and remeady the issue.

Regards,

Aaron

My laptop had my desktop's address for DNS. I changed it
to my ISPs which I am able to ping from my laptop but
still can't get out on the web. I'm not able to do any
nslookups with DNS set to my IPs but when it is set to my
desktop (the PC hooked directly to my ISP) it was able to
reslove DNS.
