CAN ONLY SAVE PICS AS BITMAPS IN MSIE

i have tried everything recommended on the Microsoft site
and nothing works. yes, i've emptied the temp files, made
sure the "don't save encrypted files to disk" button is
unchecked, and checked all program files and i can still
only save in bmp format. this seems to be a widespread
problem. ive even reinstalled java scripting and active
x. nothing works! ive also run a full virus check and spy
bot finder. i'm running the Norton Internet Security (full
version updated) software. i also have all the latest
security patches installed and even tried reinstalling
msie.

any help will be appreciated. please just email me if you
know of a fix.

Hi Jan,

You say you've emptied the temp files............ Are you referring to
C:\WINDOWS\Temp? or C:Temp?
The folder that should be emptied is C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files.

The temp file should be your TIF.

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
