Can one edit HTML code in an Outlook HTML e-mail message?

M

MS

I am still fairly new to Outlook mail. (I asked some other questions in
other messages about Outlook mail weeks ago, I hope someone can help with
them also.)

Previously I used Outlook Express for many years, up to the newest version,
6.

In OE when one was composing an HTML e-mail message, one could click on a
tab at the bottom called "Source", and see the source code, and edit that
source code. Then, when one clicked back on the "Preview" or "Layout" tab,
one would see the changes made in the source code reflected in the e-mail
message layout.

With Outlook, at first I couldn't see how to view the source code at all. No
tab at the bottom, and I couldn't find a menu item (should be in "View", at
least) to see it. Finally I found out how to do that--if one right-clicks in
the body of the message itself, there is an option to "view source". When
one does that, the source code opens in Notepad.

However, if one makes changes in that code in Notepad, then goes back to the
e-mail one was writing in Outlook, unlike how it works with the tabs in OE,
I didn't see the changes made in the source code reflected in the layout of
the e-mail message. If I saved the Notepad file, would that do it? Save as
what?

Any suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated.

(Although in general Outlook seems to have better e-mail features than OE,
I'm surprised that in other ways it doesn't work as well or as intuitively.)
