Sounds like have the same problem as livinlarge,
I get get e-mail but can not send.
this message comes up.
please help

Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.compuweb.com', Server: 'mail.comcast.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F

I've had this problem myself... here's how I corrected it.

First: Double check your POP & SMTP settings ... be certain that you are
using the correct port settings as provided by the server. If that
information has been entered correctly, next you can try modifying your
authentication settings.

To modify authentication settings in Windows Mail:
Click TOOLS > ACCOUNTS > Under Mail, click the email account you're having
trouble with > Click PROPERTIES > click SERVERS tab > Under Outgoing Mail,
select "my server requires authentication" (for many servers, the information
is identical to your sign-in information and no other modifications are
required) > Click OK > Close Windows Mail, reopen & try resending the mail
from the outbox (click SEND/RECEIVE > SEND ALL)

If you still have trouble... post again.

Is comcast.net your internet provider? If not, port 25 is probably blocked.

This can be caused by email scanning.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

I am having this same problem. I can receive any email, but I cannot
send any outgoing messages. I tried modifying my authentication settings, but
this did not affect my problem. What can you recommend for me?
Here is the error message I receive: Subject 'Fw: happy halloween',
Account: 'mail.so.centurytel.net', Server: 'smtpauth.centurytel.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You are NOT having the same problem. That's why there's a different error
code.

Tools | Accounts
Select the account, click Properties and click the Advanced tab. Increase
the Timeout slider to two minutes.
