Hello all,

Just got a call from a friend and they say that when they double click on
shortcuts on the desktop they get an error message saying there is a problem
and that the .exe program is not there. Then when they go through my
computer to the folder with the .exe program and double click on that they
get the same message.

They have avg anti-virus installed, along with ad-aware and spybot search
and destroy. They can run the avg and spybot, but not ad-aware. I think all
of the updates are installed.

What could be the problem? Would booting from a win98 bootdisk in order to
run ad-aware do any good? He has oem xp and the recovery disk is not
something he wants to think about at the moment.

Thanks for any help with this.

Thanks for that site. Followed the instruction under executables and it was
up and running in 15 minutes. That fix saved his roommate from having to
replace the computer.

Thanks again
