Can not download anything

Hello-

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out my
little problem:

Every time I try to download something, it will not allow
for it. For example, I tried to download Ad-aware from
download.com, and the dialog box that usually pops up and
offers the option of "Save" or "open" for downloads, did
not come up. I tried downloading something else as well
and the same thing happened. Does anyone know what the
problem might be??

What file type?

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
