Can Not Delete files or folders

I have a folder and files that I can not delete in windows
XP NTFS formated disk. I have tried checking the
properties of the file and folder and I can not delete the
file or folder.

I like it better when the computer was mine and I could
delete files when I wanted. Now, I do not own my computer.
This is a spy software, VBouncer, that somehow is using
ACLs to keep the owners from deleting the software. I also
have "found" folders that I can not delete that are just
taking space.

Is there any utility or settings that I can use to tell XP
to allow me to delete the darn files and folders, even if
it means that I have to re-install the OS if I screw up?

It is my darn computer, I paid for it, I own the hardware
and I paid for the OS. I should be allowed to screw it up
if I so desire.

Please help. I want to be able to do whatever I want with
my darn computer.

Shouldn't use it then. Find something you understand. On Mac 9 and earlier you can't even see these things.

Hi Willie,

According to the following site:

http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo\v\vbouncer.asp

You've got a trojan on your computer that needs to get removed ASAP.

Sounds like you also need an anti-virus application as well as tighter
security settings for your Internet zone so you don't unintentionally get
similar software installed on your computer simply by browsing the Internet.

Hope this helps.

Try this: I had the same problem, and It worked for me.

(1) right click on the folder, then click on PROPERTIES
(2) Click on the SHARING tab, then check the box that
says "make this folder private". Cick on OK.
(3) the computer will ask you if you want to create a
password. Click on NO.
(4) now delete the folder. it should work.
