I have a problem where the buffer seems to get full and I can no longer cut
and paste. Is there a way to clear the buffer?

This effects office apps and notepad as well as ctrl-v ctrl-c in the dos
shell.

I don't recall ever encountering anything like this. But from various
cut/copy/paste anomalies that have been cropping up over the past year, my bet
would be some kind of Addin or "Tool" that's interfering with the Windows
Clipboard. Common culprits are file management tools or anti-virus software.

If you can work out a set of steps that can reliably reproduce the problem,
try booting Windows in SAFE MODE and see if that clears it up. If it does,
then start eliminating applications that run automatically when Windows
starts.

Interesting. Quite often I find I cannot Paste and almost always I find the
reason to be that I have left a macro running in pause mode. I did however
have one case last week which I couldn't explain. I had copied a picture and
it appeared on the Ofice clipboard (and, evidently, on the Windows
clipboard) - but could not be pasted into any Office app - Paste and Paste
Special were greyed out as options on the edit menu, the right click menu,
and in the office clipboard and ctrl+v didn't work. I could paste it into
Paint, however. I thought it was something to do with the picture itself
(which I was looking at because it was odd) but I have gone back to it and
don't have the problem anymore. I hadn't, and haven't, made any changes to
my Word environment but now you've got me wondering.

Hi Tony,

You're sure you weren't still in Pause mode in a macro? (That's happened to
me, as well, and I always kick myself when I (yet again) realize what was
going on.) I can usually copy or cut while "paused", but never paste...

No, Cindy, I can't be absolutely sure - and, yes, I regularly kick myself
when I realise what I've done :-)
