Can not connect to

T

Thomas Kroljic

After installing office XP sp3 today, I am unable to send/receive e-mail
using Outlook 2002.
I am able to send and receive e-mail using my version of Outlook Express
(ver 6).

When I run a test of my e-mail account in Outlook 2002 I get the following
results:

Establish network connection OK
Find outgoing mail server (SMTP) OK
Find incoming POP3 FAILED

What can I do to resolve this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Thomas J. Kroljic

Sounds like, in spite of it working in OE, that you've mistyped something in
the account settings for OL.

Brian,
Thanks for the response. But I did not make any changes to my Outlook
2002. I've been using Outlook 2002 for the past two years. Today I
downloaded XP sp3. Installed it. And now Outlook 2002 doesn't connect to the
appropriate server. I called my ISP to verify the server was up and running.
(it must be since my Outlook Express works).

This is really upsetting to me. I wish I could uninstall SP3.

Any thoughts?

I just restored my system back to my last system restoration point
(yesterday 10:10am). Now my Outlook 2002 works again.

At this point, I will not reinstall office XP SP3 until I hear (research)
that it does not cripple any MS products such as Outlook 2002.
