Can not capture screen images of any movie files

As of getting a new PC with Windows XP Home, I can not get screen prints of MPEG's. They copy fine, but when the MPEG is stopped, the image goes black, even if I save something to a JPEG. Any idea what is up with this and how one can save images from Windows Media Player? Seems that no video images can save in any player.

AFAIK, you have to play the MPEG in WinDVD and then use the capture button.
I'm sure there must be the same type of button with PowerDVD.
Using the Print Screen button won't work.
