can not boot

Have been having problems with acer t300 running windows xp home.
When turning on ends up with

verifying DMI............
boot from cd rom

Have inserted system disk and taken back to factory settings but still get
same message on rebooting.
Can anyone advise if this is software or hardware related.

Make sure there is no floppy in the drive then have a look here :

yea check your BIOS and make sure that you are booting from a
hard disk - as your first option, then a floppy or CD drive as a secondary
option.
