Can not attach documents to mail

I just installed Outlook to my computer, I had been using outlook 2003. When
I try to add an attachment I get an error message
"Could not find message window"

Please help I can not add any attachments

Please clarify your post.

You had Outlook 2003 and you installed WHAT version of Outlook? From where
are you trying to attach documents to e-mail?
