can multiple users simultaneously open the same access database?

I've created a database for multiple users to access over the network.
However, sometimes it allows them to log on and at others, it displays an
error box "unknown file 'database.mdb' ". How can i solve this????? any
advice would be invaluable as i'm a bit of a beginner

I have ran into this problem a multiude of times.

first I have had to make sure that they have permissions to access, read,
write to the file. If the problem persets I make sure that the parent folder
allows them access to your file. (I have had an experince where the person
could open the folder and select the file but because they did not have
permission to access some parent folder 2 levels up they could not access the
file.)

Normally I change the location of the file and try and place it where it can
be main folder in the server.

If none of that makes sense... then try and move it somewhere else and see
if it works.
