I have 195 MB temp files in my Windows temp folder and 6.75 MB in the
Windows Downloaded Programs file. The files in the DPF folder are dll and
various other type files. The ones in the Temp fold are all temp files.
Can I safely delete this files. Using Windows XP Home (OEM). My HP computer
is running really slow of late. Thanks

Files in temp folders are fair game for deletion. Windows will not allow
you to delete files that are in use.
I would leave the downloaded programs folder alone.

However, if your computer is running really slow, these files are very
unlikely to be the reason. Instead,
you need to review the status of your computer with respect to malware.

By definition, things in the Temp folders are supposed to be temporary.
However, many things don't clean up after themselves, and a lot of malware
launches from these folders.

If you have nearly 200 meg in the Temp folder, you likely have more in the
Temporary Internet Files folders. All can be deleted, and the easiest way
to get all of them in one shot is to download and use ccleaner,
www.ccleaner.com . The first run will take a few minutes as it figures
out where files are. You may want to use the "analyze" button to check
before you let it remove files.

Do be aware that this will also delete cookies by default, which may delete
preferences you have set at various sites.

Also, watch during the install and if you don't want the Yahoo toolbar it
offers, de-select this, as well as the "check for updates" button.
