can I use my own table style in all documents?

Sad Table

I don't find any of the table designs provided with word so useful for my
uses, so I design my own

the problem is that I can't find an option to save my table design in order
to use it with other documents.. whenever I create a new document I have to
redesign the table style or copy a table from another document... I tried
using templates, not a bad solution... but I still prefer finding my own
table design ready for use with any document and any template... please help
me!

You can set a default table style for the current document and its template.
If you are using Word 2007, here's how to do it: Place the insertion point
inside a table cell. Then, on the Table Tools Design tab, locate the style
you want as the default, right-click it, and choose Set as Default from the
context menu. Word will ask if you want the style to be the default for the
current document or for all documents created from the attached template.
Choose the latter option, and click OK.

In Word2003, the "paragraph style" called Table Grid does that. (I'm
afraid I don't remember how it happened that it switched from the
default to my preference, but it probably involved opening Styles &
Formatting, right-clicking on the name, going to Modify, and selecting
Format > Borders, etc.)
