can I use frontpage with xp home

I have been told that xp home doesn't come with or
support a personal server... can I use frontpage 2002 or
2003 if I partition off a part of my disc space and
dedicate it to my website? My hardrive can be partitioned
and I have 120gb so space isn't a problem. If not, what
other software would you recomend to host a site using my
pc... online hosting is to expensive and free hosting
bites!

If you do not want the functionality of FrontPage Extensions, you can use
Apache (www.apache.org)... but the big drawback is that XP Home is limited
to 5 simultaneous connections... a connection being anything that has to be
linked to display...... therefore a hyperlink, a picture (jpg, gif, etc)...
so all five connections will be used up VERY quickly.... probably on just a
single page. The next person to browse to the web will get an error saying
all connections are used up.

XP Pro is also really only suitable for testing...with a mere 10
connections.

For unlimited connectionsd and unlimited websites, it's really a Server
operating system that you want.

Online hosting can be very low these days.... under $10 per month if you
look around.

If you run a server, your ISP may want more money.

If you run a server you must be a very skilled and
experienced IT person or you WILL have your computer and LAN
under the control of the hackers in short order.

You can get quality web-hosting for very little, perhaps
$8-10 month for a few GB of bandwidth.


If you want to run a server, buy real server software, not a
desktop OS.
