Can i use another FTP program to upload

Hiya there

I have 2 questions really,

1) when i publish to my server frontpage trys to delete anything not in the
current web ie, guestbook and forums folder, is there a way to stop frontpage
from adding, deleteing, or altering these folders when uploading a web by
default

2) If i choose to upload the files using an FTP program do i need to also
upload all those folders that Frontpage creates like the vti_** folders, or
can i get away with just uploading files and folders i have created myself,
i'm in the habit of storing all images in a folder called ''images'' all
pages in a folder called ''pages'' (except of course the index page which i
keep on the root. I do not use any frontpage extensions of any kind. I am
aware that Frontpage no longer manages the web on the server in this case,
but it does give me complete control over what Frontpage does, and does not
alter.

Many thanks .. Otis

Yes, the site must be hosted on a server that has the FP extensions and allow use of FP
subwebs/subsites, in which case you would cover those folder to subwebs/subsites from within FP or
you can ask your host to do it.

If the site has the FP extensions, DO NOT use FTP to upload any content that is managed by FP.

The hidden _vti folders are never uploaded via FP. The FP extensions create/maintain these on
servers that have the FP extensions
