I purchased a new version of windows XP hoping that it would speed up my
computer a little but it didn't do much. I would like to try installing it on
a different computer that I have to see if works better.... can I somehow
uninstall it from this computer so that I can use the same KEY code without
having a problem with activation???

Please help me!!!!

Thanks!!!!

There has only been one version of Windows XP, although it's had two service
packs. Since these service packs are available for free, if you bought a new
copy when you had an old one, I'm afraid you wasted your money.

better.... can I somehow uninstall it from this computer so that I

Did you buy a retail, boxed copy, or an OEM version? If the latter,I'm
afraid you can't do this legally. The license for OEM copies restrict them
permanently to the first computer they are installed on.

But if it's a retail copy, sure. There's no "uninstall" procedure, per se.
Just format the drive and it will remove Windows, along with everything else
on the drive.

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not legitimately
transferable), simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on
and then install it on the new computer. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, the you'll most
likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:
