Can I stop erasing text when I use Space bar?

I merely wish to push the text along, but whenever I press the space bar, it
erases the text instead of simply pushing it along. Most annoying
 
Look for the "Ins" or "Insert" key on your keyboard.

PS. This newsgroup is really for Microsoft Access, the database
product.

PPS. Kinda hard to say more, when you do not say what program you're
using!

Hi Billy,

It sounds as though you have the overstrike mode set, instead of the insert
mode. Press the Num Lock key on your keyboard so that an indicator LED (light
emitting diode) goes out. Then press the key labelled: 0 Ins in the keypad
area.
