Can I run IE6 on Vista?

Hello MVP's and other IT Knowledge purveyors,

My client requested 3 new PC's with Vista and Office 2007. I complied
and set them up on the SBS 2003 Domain.

(There was a problem saving Office 2007 documents to the SBS Shares
but that is another question)

Our issue is that a 3rd party Application can only be executed in an
IE6 environment! Tsk tsk with the 3rd Part App's ...

Is there a feasible way to uninstall IE7 and reintegrate IE6 on a
Windows Vista PC?

Any pointers welcome ...

You could set up XP in a VPC
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx
If you've never used a VPC, it loads from hibernation not a whole lot slower
than opening any application window. The IE6 browser could be pre-loaded.

I don't believe so...

That is really poor - contact the 3rd party and ask for an updated
version...

How is that going to help the OP run an app which, to use his words, "can
only be executed in an IE6 environment"...?

With Fire Fox's IE add on, of course!

While I don't know the exact KB reference, there is one out there that
points you to a Microsoft utility that will fool many websites (and I
assuming apps as well) into thinking your IE7 is IE6. This might be a good
approach if you are having a problem with the app refusing to run (as
apposed to running incorrectly.) Maybe one of the MVPs here can post the
right KB ref.

Yes, that would probably work... apologies...

More then likely not, Firefox uses the IE engine which is installed on
the system in question (When using IETab) -- You'd still effectively be
running IE7.

I have no idea how it does it - however, it certainly does seem to fool
websites into thinking the browser is IE6...
