Hi all,

I have an XP system (of a friend of mine) and it is playing up a fair bit
and I'd like to do a repair if possible in the first instance. How do I do
this ?

cheers,

Adam

This is an FAQ so you'll find numerous full explanation if you go to
groups.google.com 'How to repair install Windows XP'.

"How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP"

(In brief: change the BIOS settings to boot from the CD drive. Boot from the
XP CD. Choose install, rather than the repair console. Under install, choose
repair rather than new.)

A repair installation ought to preserve most settings and installed
applications. However, everything installed through Windows Update will be
eliminated.
