Can I have search results appear in left bar?

When I do a search in IE 6.0, the results come up in the
main window. Therefore, when I click on a search item and
go to the webpage, I lose the results from my search and
must hit "Back" to get back to them. Prior to 6.0, my
results used to appear in the lefthand bar so if I wasn't
satisfied I could easily just click on the next result.
Is it possible to set this up in 6.0?

Only way I can think of is pressing the search button up
at the top. This will activate the search sidebar at the
left-hand side, and then you can do your search in there.
Otherwise, what I sometimes do is do get the search page,
then when I want to go to a site, use right-click - open
in new window to open up the links it gives me.

That's the Search Explorer bar you are referring to.
It depends on which search service you are using.
Fewer services support it than used to.
What do you see if you press Ctrl-e?

BTW when you say "I do a search" what do you mean?
If you mean typing something in the Address bar prefixed
by a question mark check to see what setting you have
in Options, Advanced tab under
Search from the Address bar

You can set things up so that you use the same search service
for both types of searches if you want but they aren't necessarily
the same. For example, I leave MSN as the search from the
Explorer bar for the rare times that I use that and have Google
set as my search from the Address bar which I use most.

Another possibility is that your search has been hijacked
by an undesirable search service. In that case see some
of the numerous threads about undoing the effects of malware.
