Hi, Is there any way I can upgrade from Windows 2000
Professional Home to Windows XP Home? I am very thankful
if anyone can please help me. I already own a copy of XP
Home and want to install it on the 2000 but it doesn't
support it so do I have to erase everything? Thanks
again, Jake

XP Pro but why even bother? 2000 can be installed again
and again if you crash it but there are some questions as
to what MS will allow with reinstalls of XP. 2000P is a
VERY stable OS and MS just recently annouced it will be
supported until 2010.

:
| To upgrade over Windows 2000, you will need the XP Pro version.
|
| I think that anyone who directs a person to the proper area without
answering the question creates more problems and can create user
dissatisfaction with the windows help site. One can answer the question and
then re-route this person to the proper area for future use.

Greetings --

What "questions?" The only way in which WinXP licensing differs
from that of earlier versions of Windows, including Win2K, is that
Microsoft has finally added a copy protection and anti-theft
mechanism, Product Activation, to prevent (or at least make more
difficult) multiple installations using a single license.

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is there ever a
charge. If it's been more than 120 days since you last activated
that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to activate via
the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you might have to
make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:
