Hi Sam,

I'm a long time user of the last freeware version of Total Uninstall.
Can you tell me what InstallRite25 does?

Hi Clif,

have used InstallRite for quite a while. It works like this:
- InstallRite scans your PC for files, desktop icons, ini file settings,
registry keys
- some software package is installed using the manufacturer's original
setup routine
- InstallRite scans your PC again, will record the differences and build
an "install kit", that means an EXE file that can be used to deploy the
application non-interactively on other PCs.

Or in short: InstallRite is a repackaging tool.

Repackaing has some major disadvantages:
http://unattended.sourceforge.net/installers.php#repackaging

In the moment, I use http://unattended.sourceforge.net for application
deployment, this works very fine.

Regards
Gerhard

Hi Gerhard,

InstallRite sounds pretty cool. As you said, there are some drawbacks.
Would you like to write a short review of it for my newsletter at
clifnotes.tk?

You very nearly did that in the post above.

Thanks,

Clif
