Can I do this??

I have a desktop downstairs and a wireless notebook upstairs.

Both computers use XP Home, IE 6.0, OE 6.0

I have things networked and, in fact, I have a folder on my desktop that my
notebook shares.

Here is what I would like to do:

When I run OE on my notebook, I would like anything that loads in my inbox
to also appear in my desktop's inbox.

Ditto for deleted files and sent items.

In other words, I want to share my local folders.

How do I do this?? If so, where?? I can't find the folders to Share.

you could try this...
in OE on the notebook, move the location of the data files to another folder
and share it
then on the desktop, in OE, map a drive to the share on the notebook and
change to using that location
OE should say there is already files there and asks if you want to switch
using that store
say yes, and next time you open OE it will use the same files
the only limitation i see is not being able to use OE on both systems at the
same time

Wouldn't that reverse matters??

I want the SHARED folder to be on the desktop only. In other words, if I
send an email from my notebook, I want that email to automatically appear in
the sent files folder on the desktop.

But I don't even know where those files are on the desktop in order for me
to make them shared.

There's no practical way to make both computers use the same folders
for OE storage. You can assign OE on one computer to use a shared
folder on the other one, but OE wasn't designed for that, and it's
very likely to lose and corrupt messages. For information on moving

You can configure the E-mail account(s) on each computer to leave
messages on the server. Then, you can read the same messages on both.
To prevent your ISP's server from filling up, configure one or both
computers to automatically delete messages from the server, either
after a number of days or when you manually delete items and empty the
trash.

The only way to share message store folders is to have an IMAP account. You
can set up a local IMAP server, if you are so inclined; but you have to
learn something about how email works.

The only other practical way to synchronize email accounts in MSOE on
multiple computers is outlined by Steve Winograd.

Whatever you do, don't try to point the MSOE client of two different
computes to the same message store location; you are only inviting
corruption of the message store, and loss of email messages.

Thanks to your article, I was at least able to find where those folders are
located. Man, talk about deeply embedded...

They are located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\MYNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{8D32DFASSORTED CODE
LETTERS8B-D3B8-4783-xxxxxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

What would happen if I now made that last OE folder SHARED???

It's not worth it if it's gonna create problems/
