Can I convert directly from excel to RTF?

I have a series of Excel files that I would like to show via RTF, and the
only way I can think of to do this is to export to HTML, then load it into
Word, and then save as RTF. Can I just go straight from Excel without using
a third party program?

RTF is for typing words, not spreadsheet data. RTF doesn't have columns,
rows and cells. If you were to do that, you'd probably lose all formatting.

RTF supports tab stops, which are essentially crude columns. I can do what I
want to do by saving the spreadsheet as HTML and then outputting in RTF, but
that's an extra step that will cause annoyance to my end users. All I'm
looking to do is to avoid the annoyings of a second step in another
application.
