I can do so in MS word from the the tools > options. Is it possible to
do so in ppt as well How? It is sometimes better to work with the unit
of pixels esp with swf movies

PowerPoint uses whatever you have set in Regional Settings. Go to the Control
Panel > Regional and Language options to change to metric.

any chance of getting the measuremet in pixels ?

Not unless you can convince MS that pixels is the standard unit of measure in
your country. ;-)

But seriously, it wouldn't be of much use. If I play your presentation on my
1024x768 system, the measurements in pixels will be different from what you get
on your 1200 x 1024 system.

There's a Units Calculator tool in our free PPTools Starter Set
(http://starterset.pptools.com). This'll tell you the width and height in
pixels -- at the current display setting -- of a chosen shape.

Some day I'll get ambitious and rewrite it to let you set sizes on the fly too.
