G Gord Dibben Jan 16, 2009 #2 Yes if you have Excel 2002 or newer. Tools>Protection>Protect Worksheet>Allow users to: Checkmark "edit objects" That will allow users to enter Comments in any cell, not just unlocked cells, so best to disallow "select locked cells" also. Gord Dibben MS Excel MVP

D Dave Peterson Jan 17, 2009 #3 xl2k (and before) has 3 options on that protection dialog. One of them does the same as as the "edit objects"--maybe it's even named the same????
