can frontpage create search engines within my site

Define your term "search engines".

Front Page has a Search component that will allow your
visitor to search your site. See Front Page help.

If you are taking about getting your site listed on
search engines such as Google, look into Meta Tags (Front
Page help).

thanks for the response, actually i want a search engine built in to my site,
i don't have the software yet, so i'm just getting some info on its
capabilities. The problem is will the search engine do a crawl into my web,
if so i don' think this will work due to my site being on a secure server.
If not will it index from files directly on line, or will i have to index it
first on a drive then copy the index file over to my live site? any
responses would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to check with the author of the search engine to see what the requirements or
limitations are.
