Can Excel display in scientific notation with a 3digit exponent?

e.g.; 7E-168; I am creating the spreadsheet using Coldfusion, so Custom types
will not help me
 
Formatting as General will allow that format (after adjusting decimals)
- do you have a specific example that doesn't work?
