Can Excel 2002 XML Spreadsheet format be read by Excel 2007?

Excel 2002 can save a spreadsheet in XML Spreadsheet format. Can this XML
file be read by Excel 2003 - the latest version?
 
You do not need to convert to XLM for Excel 2007 to read files from earlier
versions
