Can e-mail accounts use the domain password ?

We have many users with XP Pro laptops who are forced to
change domain passwords every 60 days. They use the same
password for their Outlook e-mail account. Thus they must
also remember to change their Outlook e-mail account
password at the same time. Is there any way for the
Outlook e-mail account to use their domain password ?

I presume you're using Exchange server? If so, the password is one and the
same, unless they're connecting via POP for some reason - in which case,
they have to manually change the password in their POP client to match.

What's the reason for POP, if you're using it? Are these remote users? They
could use OWA, or VPN with Outlook (syncing also to an offline folder on the
laptop)...or RPC over HTTP(s) if using OL2003 and Exchange 2003.

Not necessarily true. We use Exchange and our usernames/passwords for
accessing our mailboxes are completely different from and have little
relationship to our Windows login credentials.

If you're using a domain login, it's the same one - Exchange doesn't have a
separate password. If you're logging in locally, it could be different....

Thanks.

Yes they are using POP. They are remote users.

OK - what about the other options I mentioned for remote users? Barring
that, they have to change their POP account pwds to match their domain
passwords, or you have to set them up not to expire.
