Can data in Word and Excel be transferred to Access?

We are trying to determine if data previously entered in Word and Excel can
be transferred into Access without re-entering all the data. The data
includes numbers and text but the numbers do not contain formulas. They are
only reference numbers. I do not currently use Access and am trying to
determine if this program is our best choice for organizing our information
regarding closed and stored files.

Excel- super easy to import into Access. Word- you will have to save it as a
"structured" text file of some sort, comma or tab seperated values, or fixed
field length.

Yes, but it can be limited by the format of your Word document.
Because of the way Excel (or any spreadsheet) works, just about any
table can be imported into Access. And of course, if the Word document
is in the form of a table, then it's easily transferable to Access.
However, if the Word document is "prose" that contains certain numbers
that you want to capture, it can be a nightmare trying to convert it
into anything other than memo fields in Access.
