Hello people.

Can you help???!

My girlfriends laptop will for some reason not connect to the internet
through her wireless connection. She can connect to her Wireless router
showing connection of 54mps, but when loading internet explorer it won't work.

Do I need to change any configurations or settings. I have searched windows
help and gone through all the connection wizzards, but I can't get it to
work.

The internet works fine if she connects to the router via ethernet, but that
takes away from the point of having wireless!

I dont get it because it used to work fine in my house. I recently upgraded
to a new wireless hub and gave her mine!! I live in the UK and she in
Ireland... Will this be any cause ie telephone connections... I gave her my
old wireless router to replace her standard router. They are identicle
except for the fact one has a wireless output!

Please help in the least technical jargon way possible please guys.

Many thanks and kind regards.

A friend of mine visiting with her laptop had the same problem - could
connect to the wireless, no Internet, but all OK if plugged in the
ethernet.

Her problem was that "someone" had changed her TCP/IP from "obtain
automatically" to inserting a specific IP. I changed it back to auto,
and she was in on the wireless.

Your problem might be the same. If so:

In the "Wireless Network Connection Properties" box highlight
"Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the list, hit the properties button,
then under the "general" tab, ensure both IP and DNS buttons are
dotted on "Obtain Automatically"
