Can anyone help with Diskeeper Premier Pro 2007

HI all,

I have a new computer running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
with Service Pack 2 . It has an Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93GHz),
4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz, and dual 1024MB NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 -
Quad SLI Enabled.

The system drive is (RAID 0) - 300GB (2 x 150GB) Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s
10,000 RPM w/ 2 x 16MB Cache. I have the RAID partitioned into a 65GB
C: partition containing the OS with a paging file btwn 2046MB-4092MB
and only 10GB of the C: partition is used. The other partition is
215GB with only 3GB used so far. This latter partiton is the one that
seems to be giving me issues with Diskeeper. The partitions below are
mentioned merely as further reference.

I also have an additional 500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM w/ 16MB
Cache as a storage drive. This drive is Partitoned as follows:
G:=200GB
H:=200GB
I:=67GB

All of these partitions are NTFS and I have allowed Diskeeper 2007 to
used its FragShield feature to optimize the Page File and the Master
File Table on each partition. I have also checked each partition and
disk for errors and found none. Diskeeper reports all partitons in a
healthy state.

My issue is that when I run a manual defragmentation with Diskeeper,
it is very slow to complete on the D: partition. All of the other
partitions finish in about 2 minutes max, but the D: partiton took
aaproximately 8-9 hours and seemed to be moving files at a much
slower rate than on the other partitons. I have ran this with my
AntiVirus software on and off and neither setting seems to make any
difference on any of the parttions. They all complete very fast with
AntiVirus on or off except the D: partition.

Can anyone pleae help? I would love to have one of you GURUs with your
vast library of knowledge point me in the right direction. Eight hoour
defragmentation session will really discourage me from running a
defrag on my D: partition.

Thanks!
Thanks in advance!!!

Regards,

Steve B.

Have you contacted Diskeeper Tech Support for some ideas? Sorry I don't
know why this would be so. What happens in safe mode?

I have sent Diskeeper an email, but have not heard back yet. Diskeeper
will not work in SafeMode. I get an error saying that the DIskeeper
Engine could not connect.

Also, this is interesting....I just moved al of the data off of this
partition to another one and then deleted the partition, recreated it
and then formated it again. I then copied the data back to it and
tried Diskeeper. It defragmented the parttion in about a minute. I
then set Diskeeper to optimize the Master File Table to the Recomended
size and rebooted. I tried Diskeeper again and back to the painfully
slow defragmentation. Why would this cause the issue or is this normal
Diskeeper defragmentation time post MFT optimization?

Sorry I don't know the answer to those questions, however I don't think you
need to optimize the MFT to a recommended size. It will grow as needed. I
have no experience with this version of Diskeeper. Diskeeper Tech support
would be the best source for that. Also there is Raxco Perfect Disk which
is used by many. They have a free trial. You could see if you like that
program better.
