Can Access be bought by itself?

Can I buy Access alone?
Annually I need to crosscheck a Filemaker file with a person now using
Access. Thus I need to create a current year file using Access and eliminate
Filemaker.
Thanks

What version?
You used to be able with the very old versions but as far as I know the
latest versions use elements of the Microsoft Office suite.

Yes.

Creating a "current year file using Access" is NOT recommended. This might
be how you'd use a spreadsheet or a flat-file database (e.g., Filemaker),
but Access is a relational database, and requires a different mind-set to
get the best use of its relationally-oriented features/functions.

If you really need to buy Access for this purpose, yes you can:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/FX100487571033.aspx

or of course it's available from any good software dealer: not recommending
this dealer particularly but a very quick search found

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_s...field-keywords=microsoft+access+2007&x=8&y=18

You might want to post some more details about the "crosscheck" and the
"current year file"... there may be some simpler options.

Yes. There is also the free Access 2007 runtime which can be
downloaded and installed on other systems. You will need one retail
copy of Access 2007 to create the database though.
