Just got a new home computer with MS Windows XP Media center 2002 Service
pack 2 and am having trouble networking my laptop and my daughters computer.
I would like to be able to share files and folders. Prior to having MS Media
Center Edition I had MS Windows Xp Pro and did not have any trouble
networking computers together. Will Media Center Edition allow you to
network? I am using Cable broadband with a wireless LinkSys router WRT54G.
Everything is wired except my laptop which is wireless. I have no trouble
working on the Internet with all 3 computers.

Thanks,

Charlie

Charlie,

Windows XP MCE will network just as well as XP Home or Pro, and if the MCE
computer connects to the Internet, then half the work is already done. What
trouble are you having? Check all computers for misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewalls. Start with this article:

If no help from the above, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from
each computer, and we'll diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:
