Can 2 printers be installed on a computer?

This may be a dumb question, but ...

I'm running Windows XP (Home edition) on a stand alone
desktop (i.e. I'm NOT connected to a network).

Is it ok to install 2 different printers on my computer?
I'm concerned that if I install an additional printer it
will screw something up. (I already have a Lexmark Z53
installed, and I want to ALSO install a Canon photo
printer that I just got for Christmas. I'd like to use
the Lexmark for normal, every day printing and the Canon
stictly for photos.)

Thanks for your help,
Dan

Yes, you can. This computer has an Epson Photo 700 on the regular LPT1
parallel port. I have an old SIIG CyberParallel PCI expansion card as LPT2
which is connected to a Canon BJC 1010 just for text. In the past I have
also used a USB port as LPT2 using a conversion cable. I have even ran jobs
through both printers at the same time.

It's even easier if one is parallel and one is USB. I used to have an Epson
SC900 hooked up via the parallel port and my new Canon via USB (most new
inkjets appear to be USB only).

.
Thanks, Sideshow Bob. I will be connecting both
printers through 2 separate USB ports, so this shouldn't
be a problem, right? (Your situation sounded like you
didn't have the printers connected using the same type
ports, but that shouldn't matter, right?)
