Camera Raw adjustments

I finally have a digital camera that will record RAW images. And the only
program I own that will read them is Vuescan. It will display the image but
it needs to be 'adjusted' to look right. I can move the sliders back and
forth and change the color balance but nothing really jumps out at me to
make it look right.

Has anyone written anything on how to do this?

Thanks,

IrfanView will open ... and work with ... many RAW files. It is a free
download, try it ... you might like it.

Your camera didn't come with software to manage (and READ) your images?

AFAIK, it should come with Nikon View, but nothing else. I wonder if
the OP has any image editing software?
