calendar "pop up" on desktop

With Works the calendar would "pop up" on desktop when time for reminders.
You did not have to be working in Works. I cannot get that to happen on new
computer with Outlook Office 2003. Is there a way?? I have to click onto
Office and then onto calendar. Help, please!! Thanks

Thank you. However, I checked and both display and sound are selected. The
calendar has never "popped" onto desktop with a reminder.
