calendar appointments

why do calendar appointments get created when an invitation email is opened
and accept is not selected? user states he opens the email the appointment
goes into his calendar then he closes the email without selecting any of the
options (accept, decline, tenative) and the appointment stays. any
suggestions?
 
that's the way it works, when you open it, it goes in your calendar as
Tentative, if you decline it, it goes away.
 
is there a way to prevent the auto input so to speak or do you have to
decline the user wants to be able to do nothing (imagine that) and the
appointment does not go into his calendar.

Click Tools>Options>Calendar Options>Resource Scheduling Options. What's
checked there?
