Calendar 2003 Error Message

J

Jim Scaroni

When trying to enter a new appt, I now get an error message "The form
required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your
administrator" This just started happening and it won't allow me to enter
appts.

Any help is appreciated!

Brian:

mine is a little different ... I click on New Appt and NOTHING HAPPENS. Not
sure when this started but about a week ago suddenly my Mail started acting
weird -- deleted are not cleared (yes it is checked to delete on close) and
my backups do not run (add-in) for either my Personal and Archive folder.

I did run REPAIR today and it still will not allow me to add an appt.

SP3 is loaded ... 'about' says (11.8217.8221)

Diane:

It now gives me the error message that Brian (below) got ... so I went to
the clearforms URL and tried to follow the instructions. Unfortunately, when
I click on PROPRETIES, I do not get a FORMS ... I am using Windows Explorer
.... should I enter from another program?

Thought I would update where I am.

When I begin Outlook I get a message that Inbox Assistant can not be
displayed due to unexpected error.

My Calendar reminders is not working.

It does not delete messages in DELETED folder when EXIT .. yes, it is
marked, has been since original installation.

I have the Add-on to backup both my Personal and Archive (I added) folders
once a day but it has not backed up for a week.

My Maxtor external backup program says there is a problem with both Personal
and Archive PST files and gives it an 'internal error'.

I have gone through repair process twice

I cleared cache but did not change so deleted the file.

Forms tells me it can not load any forms.

Was there a recent automatic update? I don't know why it is acting up all
of a sudden.

Yes, and it just got worse. Now none of my alerts work so I get no notices
from my calendar. In mail, it no longer pops open to show me where new
messages are, I have to open each folder to see if the sub-folders have new
messages. The deleted folder does not empty (check and it is still checked).
When I try to add a new appt, it tells me that I can't load forms. When I
open Outlook it tells me the Inbox Assistant can not be displayed due to
unexpected error. I have done 2 'detect and repair', I have cleared cache
and deleted forms per your instructions and I am still experiencing all these
problems. Since 'my life' is here, this is driving me nuts. ...)

Is there a way to get an Outlook 2003 program to install with all the
updates? If I reinstall from the original, I will lose all my updates ..
right?

How do I create a new one?

Another thing .. I just tried to email a URL from IE8 and it did not do
anything even thought Outlook was open.

Diane:

Ok ... I seem to be cooking. When I went back in to do the new profile it
asked me to re-set up everything. I did see that I could import the PST
files so I told it to import the newest. It found both had not closed
properly (When backup had not worked since 6/29 I found a message stating
that the PST file could not be copied as it was open in another application
... which I knew was incorrect as Outlook was closed) ... I checked the
processes and found that outlook.exe was still running when outlook was not
open. I 'ended' the process. It did import both my PST files and I
downloaded all the add-ins and re-installed them. Everything seems to be
working fine. course, hindsight is 20/20 but I think the problem is that
outlook was not closing properly is what started the problem. I had this
problem several months ago but a fix did seem to fix it. In more recent
months I was plagued with an automatic restart, normally when I tried to
dismiss one calendar task (dismiss all did not cause the error). I am hoping
outlook will settle down now.

Thanks for your help.

Importing is never the correct way of adding the contents of a PST to Outlook.
You either simply add the existing PST while using the Mail applet (using the
Data Files button) or you add it after starting Outlook with File>Open>Outlook
Data File.

After cleaning out duplicate messages that all went into my inbox (lost my
Rules) I figured that out. Highsight is definitely 2020.

Is there anyway to copy rules from an old profile to the new one? I had an
export of rules but it was 2 years old.

D

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

No, but if you still have the old profile and old pst, open and export it,
assuming it will open.

As for outlook not closing (and that may be a big part of your problem),
what addins do you use besides backup?
