Calculation problem

Hitting F2 followed by Enter changes the results of a formula in my
worksheet. Hitting these 2 keys repeatedly, toggles between 2
results. It's like this:
F2 then Enter cell A4 displays 18,000
F2 then Enter cell A4 displays 0
F2 then Enter cell A4 displays 18,000
F2 then Enter cell A4 displays 0
and so on.
The cursor can be in any cell & the above sequence still changes the
results in cell A4.

The word "Calculate" appears at the bottom of the screen to the right
of the word "Ready", which is unusual. The calculation mode is set to
Automatic.
What is causing this?

Probably circular references with an If test that does not converge.

Switch to manual and press F9 to see if cell value toggles

switch off iteration and see if you have a "circular" message.
