Then thank your lucky stars if you weren't around when the java trolls used
to start month long flame wars here. :)

To be honest, most of the C#/Java FUD I've seen here has been from
people who claim that Java is interpreted, or is hideously slow etc.

I see some similar stuff on the Java newsgroups, but correct it when I
spot it :)

Note that C# vs Java doesn't have to be a religious issue either. I've
never really understood the people who'd rather hide behind the FUD
(both ways) where each "side" claims that the other's platform/language
is slow, inelegant, proprietary etc.

I wholeheartedly agree! I guess I chose that example because it
appears Messrs. Ballmer and McNealy seem to want it to be that way.
In truth, developers are the ones who will lose if we don't
cross-pollinate our ideas and experiences.

Well, the trolls used to make statements like "C# sucks because it's just a
clone of java" or "java is better because it's simpler" (yes, someone
actually said that) and you can imagine the nonsense that resulted
considering the stupidity of the opening premise. And to be sure, they
would inevitably include a fair dose of FUD from the MS side as well.

I don't know why it's so hard to accept/admit that both have their
advantages and disadvantages.

I've seen also used in the sense of "F**k yoU Dude" or whetever D-term
Is it so ambiguous acronym or both are synonyms?

Q is whether you can FUD and fud simultaneously?

And standard - dictionary - fud is from fuddy-duddy, which is like
old-fashioned, unimaginative, or conservative.

I definitely miss now Advanced English course....
