Microsoft Office 2003 Win32 Eng ACAD-6.0

A friend asked me to help her understand the difference between the
various MS wordprocesser options.

Apparently Word 2002 costs more than Works that contains it.

Can somebody tell me what all the abbreviations in this mean?

Microsoft Office 2003 Win32 Eng ACAD-6.0

Is it really true that 2003 is the latest version of Word?

What do

Win32 (It will run on a modern computer?)
Eng (English edition?)
ACAD (Advice and Counselling on Alcohol and Drugs? I Googled it.)
6.0 (sixth revision of the 2003 version?)

say about this item?

Do any of them suggest this package is not appropriate for an ordinary
user?

The current version of Office is 2003, but Office 2007 will be released this
year. Office XP contains Word 2002, which is also included in Works Suite
(not Works). Yes, it's cheaper to get it as part of Works Suite than
freestanding; who knows why?

"Win32" means you need a 32-bit version of Windows; for other system
requirements, search for "system requirements" for whatever version you are
buying (Word 2003 will not run on anything but Windows 2000 and Windows XP).
"Eng" means English; the UI (commands, toolbars, menus, etc.) will be in
English, and it will contain proofing tools for English, French, and
Spanish. "ACAD," I would guess means it's an academic version; this means
that it is licensed to be sold only to college students and teachers. I have
no idea what "6.0" means; it looks like a version number, but Office 2003 is
Office 11.

I thought Office was being delayed until first quarter of next year along
with Windows Vista?

The Microsoft Works suite contains the previous version of Word - This is
version 2002 or Word 10. This is usually the cheapest way of buying Word
from Microsoft.
The current version of Word is Word 11 (commonly known as Word 2003) which
is included with the Office 2003 suite of programs.
Word Version 12 is currently subject to beta testing and will be made
available when that testing is completed.

With Suzanne's answers in mind:
Apparently Word 2002 costs more than Works that contains it.

True; dunno why.
Can somebody tell me what all the abbreviations in this mean?

See Suzanne's response.

Yes, it would be fine. Assuming you're running XP or a
compatible version of windows, of course, which I don't think you
mentioned. Windows 2k, XP etc. will handle it fine.
