buying a licence for windows xp

I have windows xp on my laptop and would like to install
it on my desktop. Computersystems2go.com sells a license
(COA) only. This consists of the Certificate of
authenticity (COA) sticker which includes a license dey
and allows installation of the operating system. Does not
include CD or a manual. Does this sound like an up and up
deal, and should it work? please email me if you have

Did you install XP on your laptop yourself? In other words, is the XP on
your laptop an OEM version that came preinstalled on the laptop? If it
is, it isn't going to be any use when it comes to reinstalling or
repairing WinXP on the desktop. Even though the cost is higher, I think
it is better to buy a retail version of XP because it gives you the
ability to repair and also to install on different hardware.

The COA won't do you any good if you don't have an installation CD
of a matching type. This is the kind of deal to avoid, unless you're
very sure that the Product Key you buy will work with the CD you have.
