accessible

Nero is one of the best burning software packages on the market...well worth
the investment...

Cant seem to burn cds...will not format cd...am I missing
a file?

The XP native burning utility is very neolithic. Basically you drag
things to a folder where they are "held" until XP is told to burn
them. It then puts them on the CDR and closes the session.

XP doesn't have the native ability to treat the CDR as a big floppy
disc. Hence, you can't "format" the CDR/W. For that you MUST use a
third party program.

The big players in CDR software are Roxio and Ahead (who make Easy CD
Creator or whatever the new version is called, and Nero Burning ROM,
respectively).

Hallo Kathy,

a file?
Long version:
At this moment you will perhaps not think of this as a good think, but
let me assure you that it is. Trust me, you want to use some kind of
3rd party program, preferably Nero for CD burning, and even with Nero,
just burn normal CD's, and try to keep as far away from drag-to-cd,
direct-cd, packet-cd as is humanly possible.

Short version:
Just buy and install Nero, or Nero Express, which is usually included
with your cd or dvd drive.
