Burning a CD

I tried to burn a cd. It was a narrated interview CD. I
was able to copy the files to a CD-R. It will work on
the computer I burned the CD on but it will not work if I
try to play the CD on a CD Player. I am used to Windows
Explorer and then right clicking on the drive where the
CD and it asks me what I want to do and I respond with
format CD. With XP Home I cannot figure out how to
format CD to erase what is on the CD and record again so
I can play the CD on CD Player.

A CD-R can not be erased.

The XP software will not reformat a CD-RW disk. You have to upgrade the
burner software.

What file type are you wanting the CD player to play?

I take it he was trying to make a CDDA audio CD

Correct, but the statement is not complete. The native XP writing
engine won't format a CDR or CDRW either. You also can't upgrade the
native engine; you purchase/install a third party program if you want
UDF formatting capability along with more fancy mastering options.
